Charles E. McKee provides legal counsel for the purchase and sale of companies, venture capital financing, private securities offerings, and the formation, operation, and financing of closely-held entities and emerging growth companies. An attorney for 30 years, he has broad-based experience in corporate transactions, the private placement of equity and debt securities, intellectual property, technology licensing, trademark registration, and general corporate, limited liability company, and business matters. Charles has represented companies, large and small, public and private, in their day-to-day operations.
Prior to joining Homeier Law PC, Charles practiced transactional law for almost 20 years with a boutique law firm in Westlake Village. He also served as in-house counsel for Prime Matrix Wireless Communications, where he was responsible for corporate acquisitions for a wireless communications reseller implementing a roll-up strategy, and he was an associate at Carlsmith Ball, formerly Ball Hunt Hart Brown and Baerwitz. Charles served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1980.
Charles served as the Chair of the Business Law Section of the California State Bar from 2013 – 2014 and now continues to be an advisor to the Executive Committee. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section since 2009. Prior to then, he served on the Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies Committee from 2003 to 2009, and was Chair of that Committee for the 2008-2009 year. Charles is the author of Limited Liability Companies (Chapter 11), Selecting and Forming Business Entities (CEB 2007), and annual updates, and has authored articles on and has been a speaker at seminars about limited liability companies. He also served as a member of the drafting committee for the new California Revised Uniform Limited Liability Company Act.
Charles received his J.D. from University of Southern California and his B.S. from Oregon State University. Charles is a member of the State Bar of California.
